Youth burnt alive over petty issue in Lahore

Two minor children suffocated to death when the carpet of their room caught fire in Chung area

LAHORE: The grudge on a minor scuffle led to the burning alive of a young man in Nishtar Colony on Sunday.

Police said Muhammad Ashfaq, 25 had a dispute with his neighbours over a petty issue. The dispute was resolved amicably by the intervention of elders of the area and police. However, the suspects allegedly had developed a grudge against him.

On the day of the incident, Ashfaq was at his shop on Atta Baksh Road when the unidentified suspects reached there. They locked the victim inside, sprinkled oil and set the shop on fire. Resultantly, the victim was burnt alive inside his shop. The suspects also torture another victim Talha, 15. They threw him into Rohi Drain after torture. However, the victim somehow managed to escape. A police team reached the spot and shifted the body to morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, two minor children suffocated to death when the carpet of their room caught fire in Chung area. The victims identified as Sufyan, 9 and Arsalan, 7 were asleep in their house. Their parents lighted an anti-mosquito coil and left to attend a religious ceremony. A spark from the coil fell on the carpet that caught fire. The room was filled with smoke due to the burning of the carpet. The victims were suffocated to death.
