P&D Dept authorises Rs40b development projects

CM Kamal says Rs10b already spent on uplift schemes during fiscal year

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal on Saturday said that the Planning and Development (P&D) Department has authorised Rs40 billion worth of projects for which Rs33 billion has been released by the finance department and Rs10 billion has already been spent during the current fiscal year.

In a series of tweets, the chief minister said schemes worth Rs40 billion were authorised, Rs33 billion was released and Rs10 billion expenditure done by now. “Many people are trying to misguide, but the above is factual position and they all should stop misguiding people. It does not suite public representatives to be misguiding or making false statements.”

Kamal also said that soon more development schemes would be announced for the welfare of the people. He added that the opposition and some elements were worried of government steps because they were lowering their political stature.



He vowed to develop the province, saying, “We will lead Balochistan forward.”

Refuting rumours regarding halted projects and lapsed development funds, he said a group of people was attempting to distract people by spreading disinformation. He added that negative behaviour doesn’t suit public representatives.

On Quetta development package, he said, “Inshallah this project would bring a lot of benefits to the people of Quetta.” Work on rhree new dams, flyovers and road expansion projects was under way in Quetta, which would facilitate the people of the province, he added.

“Cancer and cardiac hospitals will be built in the provincial capital, while work on Quetta Safe City Project has already been launched.”
Moreover, the CM has directed the urban planning department to prepare the feasibility report of housing societies and model towns on government land in all cities of the province.

Kamal directed the Board of Revenue and all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to provide information about government land to the urban planning commission.



Compensation to heirs

CM Kamal has announced Rs4 million compensation for the families of Levies personnel who embraced martyrdom in an attack in Ziarat.

According to the CM’s Principal Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal, “CM Jam Kamal has issued directives for paying salaries to the widows of the martyred Levies officials till their date of retirement.” A son of every martyred official would be given a job by the provincial government, said Amin.

Directives have been issued to the authorities concerned in this regard, the official said.

Dengue virus in Turbat

Taking notice of the prevalence of dengue virus in Turbat, CM Kamal directed the health department to initiate steps on an emergency basis for the prevention the disease.

He also directed the health department to properly look after the patients of the virus, providing them efficient healthcare. He also called for monitoring the ground situation.

A proper action plan should be launched to control dengue virus, the CM said.

The chief minister advised the people to help the government in the cleanliness drive. He also ordered accelerated efforts to spread awareness against the virus.
