International Francophonie Day was observed at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML). The event was organised by the French Language Department of NUML. A theatre performance was conducted by Alliance Francaise and skit and song performances were presented by the students of the French Department.

French Ambassador Marc Barety was the chief guest of the ceremony. NUML Director General Brig Muhammad Ibrahim, Director Administration Brig (retd) Zia ul Hassan Sahi, Dean Languages Prof Dr Safeer Awan, Head of Department French Dr Zille Zehra and a large number of students from various departments also attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Barety said that French is the language of 200 million people across the globe and Francophonie is an important event for French speaking nations.
