Talpur, Memon elected to Sindh's Public Accounts Committee

Both leaders are currently under NAB investigation

KARACHI:
Faryal Talpur and Sharjeel Inam Memon, both under investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), were on Monday selected as members of Sindh Assembly's Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

The provincial assembly elected seven members to PAC for the duration of the assembly's tenure.




Memon is accused of embezzling almost Rs6 billion while heading Sindh’s Information Department. According to the NAB reference, an investigation was conducted in the corruption reference and corrupt practices were found in the award of advertisements to television and FM radio channels. Between July 2013 and June 2015, an amount of Rs5.76 billion was paid to seven advertisement agencies.

Talpur, along with her brother and former president Asif Ali Zardari, is currently under investigation by NAB in the fake accounts case.

Talpur and Memon are two of seven elected members. Other members of the committee include Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Muhammad Qasim Soomro, Abdul Karim Soomro, Farukh Ahmed Shah and Ghanwer Ali Khan.
