The NAB prosecutor-general challenged the verdict on the directives of NAB chairman in The Sindh High Court. The plea filed by the NAB stated that Michael was sent on judicial remand to jail while he was accused of illegally allotting 16 plots in Karachi Port Trust (KPT). Michael, and others, caused a loss of more than Rs11 billion to the national exchequer.
The investigation officer had asked the court for Michael's 14-day physical remand, which was rejected by the court and he was sent to jail. In order to trace evidence, said the prosecutor-general, it was important that Michael be handed over on a 15-day physical remand to NAB.
