Promotion Plea: City police chief pleads discrimination

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) chief justice sought a reply from the Establishment Division secretary on a petition filed by CCPO Malik Ahmad Raza Tahir who challenged the delay in his promotion to grade 21. Tahir had filed this petition before his appointment as CCPO. He contended that he had been discriminated against. He said the department was delaying his promotion taking advantage of a suo motu notice taken by former LHC chief justice against his previous appointment as CCPO and a departmental inquiry started on the court’s orders. He prayed to the court to direct the government to promote him.
