“The western parts of Balochistan are suitable for investment in energy while there are various other opportunities of investment in provincial agriculture and livestock sectors,” the chief minister told Kuwaiti Consul General Muhammad Abdullah Al-Khalidi during a meeting at the CM Secretariat on Thursday.
The Kuwaiti CG called on Chief Minister Kamal to discuss investment opportunities in Balochistan.
Provincial ministers Zahoor Buledi, Sarfaraz Domki, Abdul Rehman Kethran, Saleem Khosa, Parliamentary Secretary Mubeen Khilji, Dinesh Kumar and CM’s Coordinator Rameen Muhammad Hassani were present.
Consul General Abdullah Al-Khalidi apprised the CM about the Kuwaiti investors’ interest to invest in provincial water treatment and desalination plants, and the energy sector.
“Pakistan and Kuwait have brotherly relations and both countries have been making efforts to increase bilateral trade,” said the CG.
Kamal said the Balochistan government was going to embark on a series of investment conferences to grab the attention of foreign companies.
He pledged full support and assistance to the Kuwaiti investors and invited them to invest in provincial livestock, fisheries and mineral sectors.
Meeting with Afghan CG
Afghan Consul General Waheedullah Momand called on the Balochistan chief minister and discussed economic ties.
“Fortunately this region has the capacity to fill the energy needs of the whole world and TAPI gas pipeline project will be in the better interest of all regional countries,” Kamal told the Afghan CG. “We shouldn’t lose hope regarding Afghan peace dialogue.”
On the tension between United States and North Korea, the CM said, “Rival regional powers can sit at the dialogue table, which is the only solution to secure the interest of all nations. We all have to benefit from economic opportunities.
“Pakistan has always played a key role in the Afghan peace process because we believe that a peaceful Afghanistan is in our better interest.”
Afghan CG Moman agreed with the CM, saying both the countries were plagued by terrorism and “we believe in fostering economic ties with Pakistan”.
“Issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan can only be resolved through dialogue,” said the CG. “Pakistan has been hosting a large number of Afghan refugees for decades and the Afghan government always lauds the role of Pakistan in restoring peace in Afghanistan.”
Inauguration
CM Kamal inaugurated a free screening camp at the Balochistan Institute of Nephrology and Urology, also known as Kidney Centre on Thursday.
The CM said, “The provincial government is taking all possible measures to ensure quality health treatment to the people of Balochistan. Lack of awareness is the prime cause of the increase in the number of kidney patients in Balochistan.”
Kidney Center Chief Executive Officer Dr Kareem Zarkoon apprised the CM and cabinet members of the functions of the screening camp.
“We have set up a free camp where kidney patients are being screened and receiving free medical tips,” said Dr Zarkoon.
CM Kamal said the provincial government had been taking steps to ensure that the dialysis facility was available at all district headquarter hospitals across the province.
“The provincial government has been imparting financial assistance to poor patients for kidney transplant,” he added.
Separately, Kamal participated in a walk held to mark the World Kidney Day and distributed shields among people, who donated their kidneys to patients.
ATF passing-out parade
CM Kamal on Thursday attended the passing-out parade of the 9th batch of the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) at the Quetta Police Training Centre and paid homage to the martyrs.
Inspector General of Balochistan Police Mohsin Hassan Butt, Home Minister Zia Langove, Health Minister Naseebullah Marri, ANP’s Parliamentary Leader Asghar Khan Achakzai and parents of passed-out cadets were present.
Addressing at the occasion, Kamal said, “The provincial government has taken major steps to enhance the capabilities of the police force and other law enforcement agencies as maintaining law and order remains on top of the government’s agenda.”
“The government is providing the police department with modern weapons and training. I am optimistic that our brave soldiers will fight with bravery and courage against terrorism,” Kamal said.
Kamal expressed satisfaction over the standard training given to the new ATF cadets.
Kamal lauded the efforts of IG Police and Commandant ATF School Col (retd) Asad Farooq.
The new cadets displayed their skills taught during the training course.
