In this context, the passage of a resolution in the National Assembly condemning the attack is a good first step. It is interesting that this was achieved primarily because three female MNAs took the initiative. One wonders what held the members of the Senate back in condemning the attack in similar fashion?
We can change our image in the eyes of the world if we remove all discriminatory laws from the constitution. This will be a worthy act because it will wrest away from the extremists the legitimacy that they get in targeting minorities.
