Federal govt imposes regulatory duty on import of cordless telephone sets

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has imposed a regulatory duty on the import of landline cordless telephone sets costing between $30 to $500.

A regulatory duty of Rs180- Rs18,500 has been imposed on each cordless set, and a formal notification has been issued in this regard.

An amendment in SRO 1265 has been brought in a notification bearing no 327 issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on October 18, 2018 , according to which a Rs180 regulatory duty will have to be paid on the import of a cordless set including landline phone costing $30, Rs1,800 per set on the import of a landline phone with a cordless set costing less than $100 and above $30,  Rs2,700 on a landline phone and cordless set costing above $100 and less than $200, Rs3,600 per set on the import of a landline phone and cordless ranging between $200-$350, Rs10,500 on the import of a landline phone and cordless costing above $350 and less than $500, while a Rs8,500 regulatory duty will have to be paid for each set imported costing over $500.
