PBF postpones UK training camp

KARACHI:

The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has postponed the training camp, to be held at Amir Khan's club in the UK for another two weeks due to the unavailability of other countries.

The PBF planned to send five boxers to the UK on June 5 to prepare for the Olympic Qualifiers. However, the tour was first postponed till June 12 and has been put off again.

According to the PBF Secretary Akram Khan, the team will be sent to the UK next month because the club had not finalised the other countries that were interested.

The officials at the Amir Khan boxing academy said that they have been waiting for the Pakistan team members to arrive.

"We are ready to train the boxers and will start the camp soon," club manager Saifi told The Express Tribune. "It's true that four other countries including China, Cuba, Iran and Taiwan have showed interest, but we cannot confirm their participation since immigration takes time. The PBF should wait for them."
