RAWALPINDI: The inauguration of Jinnah Express has been delayed due to the inadequate supply of raw material used for reconditioning of old railway coaches at Railway Carriage Factory Islamabad.

Previously, the air conditioned coaches of Jinnah Express, which would run between Lahore and Karachi, were to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan at Lahore railway station on March 23.

The worn-out Chinese made coaches were to be refurbished for their inclusion in Jinnah Express by March 20, however it faced a setback due to the insufficient supply of raw material.

However, the carriage factory has now been given the task to complete the reconditioning process by 30th March.

The sources revealed the carriage factory Islamabad roughly has 70% share in manufacture of railway coaches in the country however the factory is facing a shortage in raw-material supply currently.
