KARACHI: Ad and music video director Saqib Malik is all set to make his mark in the world of cinema with his much anticipated and talked about first venture Baaji, stated a press release.
The film has been creating a strong buzz since it was announced last year. Its intriguing storyline, the ensemble cast and most of all, the presence of Meera in a powerful role, have all been titillating the imaginations of cinema audiences.
The first look of Baaji, revealed on social media last week, featured an ultra glamourous Meera striking an alluring, diva-like pose while Amna Ilyas stood next to her, with a subdued expression of awe. Meera’s enigmatic smile and Amna's look hint at a deep, intriguing deeper story, like there more to it than meets the eye. A sparkling background added a dose of style and mystique. Meera wore a shimmering gold Nomi Ansari dress and Amna adorned a sexy number by Deepak Perwani.

As soon as the poster was revealed, social media went into overdrive and for the next few hours, Baaji became the hottest news, taking on lead trending position on Twitter. Instagram and Facebook were also ablaze with some of the top Pakistani stars of today reposting the first look of the upcoming film and offering best wishes to its team. Those who shared words of support on social media included Ali Zafar, Humayun Saeed, Fahad Mustafa, Ayeza Khan, Danish Taimoor, Adnan Siddiqui, Sanam Saeed, Nadia Afgan, Imran Abbas, Azfar Rehman, Bilal Ashraf, Ali Rehman Khan, Ayesha Omar, Maria Wasti, Nida Yasir, Aamina Sheikh , Zainab Qayyum, Hajra Yamin, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Zara Noor Abbas, Seemi Raheel, Hina Dilpazeer, Sadaf Kanwal, Yasir Husain, Nomi Ansari ,Frieha Altaf, Deepak Perwani, Wardha Saleem, HSY, Asim Yar Tiwana, Ahsan Rahim , Jami , Mehreen Jabbar and Raza Baig, amongst many others.
If the intense interest over the poster is anything to go by, Baaji has already become quite the audience attraction even before its release. Just how the drama film fares at the box office remains yet to be seen. Good news for film enthusiasts though! Other than Meera and Amna, Baaji also stars other popular names of Pakistani entertainment, including Osman Khalid Butt, Ali Kazmi, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Nayyar Ejaz and Nisho. The film is slated to hit the screens on June 28, 2019.
