ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday allowed the petitioner Taj Muhammad Raisani to submit evidence against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Yar Muhammad Rind in a case pertaining to his disqualification.

A three-member bench, headed by Justice Azmat Saeed and comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Munib Akhtar, heard the case during which the counsel for Raisani said there was a discrepancy in the academic qualification of the PTI leader.

He stated that Rind contested the 2008 elections on the basis of an MA degree, whereas in the 2018 polls he mentioned an FA.

Justice Saeed asked the petitioner whether he had approached the election tribunal. The petitioner responded that the tribunal had refused to hear the case as it was pending before the SC.

The court, after hearing the arguments, approved the petitioner’s plea to submit evidence against Rind and adjourned the hearing for three weeks.
