Attackers demanded vendors to "head back to Kashmir"

SRINAGAR: Two Kashmiri dry fruit vendors in India's Lucknow were beaten on the street by political workers belonging to the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) post-Pulwama, Express News reported on Thursday.

The violent episode occurred in the aftermath of the February 14 Pulwama attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK). The attackers, on the occasion, demanded the vendors to "head back to Kashmir".

Four people have been booked for assaulting the two Kashmiri men, The Hindu reported.

The Lucknow police lodged a first information report (FIR) against the miscreants after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The FIR has been registered in under Sections 147, 323, 504, 153A and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, a Lucknow police official apprised the media.

The victims belong to Kulgam in AJK.

On Wednesday, occupying forces in their act of ongoing state terrorism martyred two innocent Kashmiris in the Tral area of Pulwama district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, another youth was martyred in Azad Jammu and Kashmir's (AJK) Kupwara district in a cordon and search operation by Indian troops.

Tensions between Pakistan and India spiralled over the last few days following the Pulwama attack that killed over 40 Indian paramilitaries.

Islamabad has repeatedly urged New Delhi to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement, investigate the incidents of ceasefire violations, instruct Indian forces to respect the agreement in letter and spirit and maintain peace along the Line of Control (LoC). However, the violation of the truce has been continuing.

Earlier in 2018, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights issued a report revealing “impunity for human rights violations and lack of access to justice” to be among human rights challenges in the occupied valley.

Thank goodness the Pak soldiers protected the Indian pilot who was shot down because he was about to be lynched by the Kashmiri mob on the ground. When will India wake up and realize you can't force people to be with India if their heart is with Pakistan?
