In a serious violation of Pakistan Railways code of conduct, a train driver put the lives of hundreds of passengers at risk by handing over the train's control to a woman in Lahore on Sunday.

In a video that went viral on social media, it can be clearly seen that two women were present in the driver's cabin, with one of them gleefully holding the train's steering wheel.

As per the railways rules, no one except the authorised staff is allowed to enter the locomotive's engine room.

The driver of engine number 4919 of Pakistan Railways can be heard asking the woman in the driving seat to accelerate train's speed while he himself was busy video the whole episode.

According to Express News, the officials also confirmed that no female driver had been recruited in the railways but still no action was taken against the driver till the filing of this story.



Earlier on December 24, 2019, at least one person died while five other passengers were injured as three bogies of Shalimar Express derailed near Faisalabad.

Rescue teams reached the area, while the railways staff restored the railway traffic on the track in an hour.
