Decision taken at K-P cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Thursday requisitioned platoons of Frontier Constabulary and Frontier Corps for ensuring their presence in the province so that if army is moved towards eastern border, the levy force could be deployed for security of western border.

The decision was taken at cabinet meeting of K-P which held here with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair.

Briefing newsmen, Provincial Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai said it was decided to make arrangements for protection of western border in case army is moved to eastern border of the country. For this purpose the government requisitioned platoons of Frontier Constabulary and Frontier Corps.

The meeting also decided to set up a Control Room at Home Department for liaison with federal government and for conveying of all decisions at district level in the province.

CM Mahmood approved reservation of Rs80 million for relief fund in the province.

The information minister said all deputy commissioners will get emergency funds. The DCs would also be directed to take measures for public mobilisation, moving people to safer places in case of enemy attack and training of local councillors for war preparedness.

Meanwhile, the cabinet meeting also expressed condemnation over armed attack on a judge of Peshawar High Court (PHC) in Peshawar on Thursday morning. Justice Ayub Marwat and his driver sustained wounds in the attack and are admitted in hospital for treatment.
