Engineers marched on Quetta’s streets on Saturday, protesting against what they called the government apathy and inaction over the kidnapping of their colleagues across Balochistan.
The protest, held in front of the Quetta Press Club, was organised by the Balochistan Engineers Association.
Protesters also called for the early release and safe recovery of their colleague Engineer Sayed Naeem Shah who was kidnapped along with his driver from Nasirabad about three weeks ago.
Stressing the need for peace in the province, protesters urged the government to provide them with adequate security.
Last month, engineers Sayed Naeem Shah and Mohammad Amin were kidnapped from the Dadhar area, while Abdul Rauf was abducted from Wadh in Khuzdar. The kidnappers also whisked away their drivers and other staff who accompanied them.
“At least five of our people have been kidnapped,” one of the protesters said.
