As per the arrangement, Pakistan Post will provide facility of issuance and distribution of National Identity Cards to far flung regions of the country. Pakistan Post had already launched a pilot project on June 20, 2017, through which it served as an agency service for Nadra.
The pilot project included Pakistan Post’s operations on behalf of Nadra for 10 locations including backward areas such as Muzzarabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Butt Khela, Hyderabad, DI Khan and Khairpur.
In addition, far flung post offices in Kalar Syedan, Garhi Dopatta, Mastung and Khachlaq also offered Nadra identity card services after which the project was extended to 100 more postal locations so that those in remote regions could also avail the facility without much hassle.
Nadra has agreed to pay fees on per case basis to the Pakistan Post thus helping it in revenue generation and overcome the losses it has been incurring since the past several years.
Low prices of postal tickets and increase in staff salaries have also put a burden on the budget of Pakistan Post. The provision of agency services for Nadra has started to help post office department generate some revenue.
On the other side, Nadra has also signed an agreement with Pakistan Post according to which about 15,000 facilitation centres of the authority will serves as franchise for Pakistan Post and provide basic services. The partnership will help both the organisations boost their revenues.
