Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said on Tuesday that the Cinema Exhibitors Association had decided to boycott Indian content in the country following New Delhi's violation of Line of Control (LoC) which has further worsened the already strained relations between the two neighbouring countries.

"...no Indian movie will be released in Pakistan," he tweeted.

The minister said that he had also instructed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Association (Pemra) to act against advertisements made in India.

Cinemas in Lahore Cantt stop screening Indian films

The move comes hours after the Indian Air Force violated Pakistani airspace near the Line of Control earlier on Tuesday, and were chased away by Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets which were immediately scrambled to thwart any aggressive move.

Last week, cinemas in Lahore's cantonment areas had halted the screening of Indian films.

The decision deemed to be a retaliatory step after New Delhi producer’s guild across the border demanded that the Indian films should stop screening in Pakistan.

They also imposed a ban on Pakistani artistes working in the industry once again.
