ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has termed the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decision not to grant bail to the PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif as ‘disappointing’ and announced to file an appeal against the verdict.

The PML-N leaders – Marriyum Aurangzeb, Khawaja Asif an Shahid Khaqan Abbasi – while speaking to media after the verdict said a medical board after diagnosing Nawaz’s disease had recommended immediate medical treatment.

“This is why we had strong hopes that Nawaz Sharif would be released on bail but it did not happen. We are extremely disappointed by the decision but the PML-N has always respected the judiciary and we also respect the Monday’s verdict,” Abbasi said

The former PM said the medical treatment needed by Nawaz was not possible in jail. “The PML-N will file an appeal against the verdict and use all legal means. The medical treatment needed by Nawaz Sharif is possible in and outside the country. But for that Nawaz must come out,” he added.

Earlier, Senator Mushahidullah Khan while talking to media outside the court said the current government has subjected Nawaz Sharif to immense cruelty.

“The former PM was not even permitted to attend to his ailing wife. We should be tortured up to a level which others can bear tomorrow. Flawed policies of the current government have damaged the country,” he said.

Commenting on the arrest of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durani by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Mushahidullah said the way Durani was arrested is condemnable.  The PML-N’s Pervaiz Rashid said it is discretion of Nawaz whether he wants to get medical treatment locally or from abroad.

“Those opposing us are raising these issues to create doubt and controversy. Nawaz Sharif is not like General Musharraf. Why those opposing us were mute while Musharraf left the country,” he said, adding that Nawaz Sharif is the son of soil and will continue his politics.

“We had some reservations about courts and we have stated them. We will continue to complain if we have more reservations. Justice can take time but it will be served in its truest form.

Rebuffing claims that PML-N is given any relaxation or offered a deal, he said the government must disclose the ‘other party’ making such offers to the PML-N.
