Sindh cabinet approves doctors pay raise to match Punjab

Members recommend to increase the wages in regard to their performances

The Sindh cabinet on Monday approved increase in wages of government doctors in the province equivalent to the Punjab package, Express News reported.

According to the decision, salary packages of officials in health, education and various other institutions will be increased based on their performances.

The Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also directed to appoint more doctors. A spokesperson to the CM added that the new doctors will be inducted at specific hospitals and will not be transferred.

The new salary package will be effective from February, while an additional Rs15,000 per month will be paid to all the house officers and the health department will review the salary structures.

After reviewing all the allowances and salaries, the cabinet was told in the briefing that the annual burden on the national exchequer will stand at Rs5.6 billion. Several cabinet members recommended increasing the wages of the doctors in regard to their performances.
