OIC calls emergency meeting of Kashmir Contact Group tomorrow

High-level moot to review steps taken by India after Pulwama attack

On Pakistan's request, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has summoned an emergency meeting of its Kashmir Contact Group to review actions taken by New Delhi in the aftermath of the February 14 Pulwama attack in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK), Kashmir Media Service reported.

The meeting will be held at the OIC General Secretariat at 11 am on Tuesday.



In the past, the group has criticised India over human rights violations in the occupied territory.

A complete shutdown is being observed in IoK's Kulgam district and Pir Pangal's Mandi town area in defence of Article 35A of the Indian Constitution. Other areas including Mandi town of Poonch are also observing shutdown, aiming to condemn acts of terrorism and brutality by the occupying forces.

On threats of Indian aggression, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry commented that "the whole nation stands behind armed forces of the country".



According to Radio Pakistan, Chaudhry added that all political parties are on one page on Pakistan's solidarity.

"Pakistan wants normalisation of relations with India and Prime Minister Imran Khan has categorically given his stance on the relationship with New Delhi," he added.
