Grenades defused in Pindi

Further investigations are underway

RAWALPINDI/ ISLAMABAD: A tragedy was averted on Friday when three hand grenades, found dumped under the Nullah Kansi bridge in Kallar Sayedan, were defused.  According to local police, a passerby had spotted the grenades and told a nearby traffic police warden about them.  The warden informed his superiors who dispatched the bomb disposal squad (BDS) to the area. BDS officials defused the grenades and took them into custody. Officials said that the grenades appeared to be quite old and covered in rust, meaning that they have been there for a while. However, further investigations are underway.
