QUETTA: A large number of workers of ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) on Friday staged protest outside party secretariat against formation of the Quetta Division Committee and called for sacking of party advisers, saying that party rules have been violated.

Supporters who showed up at the demonstration were led by BAP’s Coordination Secretary Fateh Jamali.

Talking to reporters, Jamali said that the BAP president should run the affairs as per the party constitution. He said the president formed a committee for Quetta division without any discussion.

The party already has a discussions committee for such matters, he said demanding termination of two advisers who suggested the measure.

“We are not members of the assembly who would want the government to derail. We are workers and we speak about the constitution as its execution is our responsibility. We only demand that Azeem Kakar and Bilal Kakar be suspended,” said Jamali.
Senior party leaders came outside the secretariat for negotiations with the protesting workers but the demonstrators had a one-point demand to send the advisers packing.
They warned that the workers will be forced to stage a sit-in if the demands were not met.
