MUZAFFARGARH: Two people of a four-member family died due to swine flu and two other infected members of the family were shifted to a hospital in Alipur.

The N1H1 swine flu virus was detected in the house of Dr Umer due to which a woman and her son have died. Muzaffargarh District Health Officer Dr Iqbal said the deadly virus was detected in Muhammad Qasim, 35 and Asma 4, following a screening of over 50 people of the area following reports that two patients infected with swine flu were being shifted to a hospital in a precarious condition.

He said the infected patients were shifted to Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur where Halima Bibi, 65 and her son Mureed Hussain 41, succumbed to viral infection.

Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Fazal said a separate swine flu counter has been established at the hospital where citizens could undergo a screening test. He, however, said they have detected no case of the viral disease so far.
