IN PICTURES: Iman Ali ties the knot amongst friends and family
The who's who of the Pakistani entertainment industry was present at the event
After a year of courtship, supermodel Iman Ali tied the knot with her beau in a traditional ceremony February 21. One of Pakistan’s biggest ramp and print superstars, Iman married Babar in Lahore. The groom is a businessman and the grandson of late Aziz Bhatti Shaheed. The wedding was a glamorous affair with the who’s who of the entertainment industry in attendance.
Urwa Hocane, Farhan Saeed and Sarwat Gilani were among the few actors who made it to the guest list. Industry heavyweights Ali Xeeshan, Emmad Irfani, Ali Zafar and Iffat Rahim were also present. Iman’s father, veteran actor Abid Ali was all smiles on the occasion. The wedding festivities kicked off with the mayoun ceremony held at Iman’s residence on February 20.
With the dances choreographed by a professional, both sides grooved to the latest songs. Iman did a solo on the track Deewani Mastani, originally performed by Deepika Padukone in her blockbuster movie, Bajirao Mastani. As close friends and family danced into the wee hours of the morning, the event was indeed a glittering affair.
The bride looked radiant in a subtle yellow and gold ensemble made by Mehdi Couture. It was a lehenga choli coupled with a long chiffon duppatta, detailed with traditional gota kinari.
Iman made her entrance for her nikkah ceremony in a red and gold embroidered duppatta as a veil. She kept her jewellery minimal yet elegant with a kundan maang tika and choker paired with gold and green bangles.
Makeup maestro Shahzad from Athar Shahzad dolled her up for the mehendi, keeping her look simple and sophisticated. Using bold eyeliner and earthy lips, her hair was tied in a loose braid. Babar donned a subdued ivory short length sherwani, paired with a red kurta.
The wedding was planned by event planner, Qasim Yar Tiwana. who also happens to be one of the bride’s close friends. He kept bright yellow as the prominent theme and included a huge floral installation of fresh roses and marigold.
A private valima for close family and friends will be held over the weekend. Her alimony (haq mehr) was set at Rs2.5 million.
