Yasinzai credits people, security forces for peace

Governor chairs VCs’ meeting in Quetta

QUETTA: Governor Amanullah Yasinzai has lauded the efforts of security forces and locals in restoring peace back to the province, adding that the situation at the border areas of Afghanistan and Iran is also under control.

He was talking to a delegation of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly members led by Deputy Speaker Mehmood Jan on Thursday.

The host informed the visitors about the history, culture and ongoing situation of the province.

“The provincial government is taking initiatives for providing basic amenities of life to the people. We are taking practical steps for the elimination of poverty from Balochistan,” said Yasinzai.

During the meeting, the ongoing situation of the country was also discussed.

On corruption, Yasinzai said: “We are hopeful that the menace of corruption and commission mafia will be eliminated from our society”.

He also said that the government was trying to provide a better lifestyle to the people.

Later, the governor presented souvenirs to the guests of K-P Assembly delegation.

Meanwhile, Yasinzai chaired the vice chancellors consultation meeting held at Governor House to discuss the performance of public sector universities.

During the meeting, varsities’ financial and administrative issues, approval of Balochistan Endowment Fund and recruitment of new teaching staff was discussed.

The governor said educational development of the province is linked to the provision of modern research facilities in universities.

In higher education institutions the teaching process should not be limited to the curriculum and bookish knowledge; he said stressing that they should emphasise on research and innovative ways of learning.

Participants of the meeting suggested recommendations on different matters which would be forwarded to relevant institutions after review.
