Man tortured to death by girl’s relatives

Police said Yunus went to meet the girl but her family knew about the matter

A man was tortured to death by relatives of a girl in Jhang on Wednesday.

Qadirpur police told Express News that Muhammad Yunus, a resident of Lalian Tehsil, Chiniot, allegedly had an affair with a girl.

The victim had fallen in love with her and the couple used to meet at different locations without the permission of their families.

On the day of the incident, Yunus went to Tahli Bhatiana area to meet her. However, the girl’s family knew about the matter. In a fit of rage, the girl’s relatives, including Khalid and others reached the spot and subjected him to severe torture.

After beating and torturing him for several minutes, the accused fled along with the girl. The man suffered critical injuries and was shifted to a local hospital for treatment but he could not survive.

After the incident, the police reached the spot and recorded statements of the eye-witnesses. A case had been registered against the suspects, while further investigations were under way.

Earlier, a man died after being beaten up for demanding his salary from his employer in Lahore’s Naulakha area.

Police said that Wasim, a resident of Hari Chand Sultanpura, used to work at a shop on Brandreth Road, which was owned by Owais. Allegedly, a day prior to his death, Wasim asked Owais for his salary. This led to an argument between the two during which Owais and two other employees violently beat Wasim, critically injuring him.

However, the perpetrators took Wasim to a hospital for medical treatment where he breathed his last.
