LAHORE: A case was registered on Wednesday against actor Fawad Khan for his alleged refusal to get his children vaccinated against polio virus in Lahore.

Police have already registered complaints against six people, including the Humsafar star, during a polio immunisation drive in Faisal Town.

When the polio team reached the actor's residence, their request was not entertained.

It's pertinent to mention here that Fawad is currently in Dubai for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and was not present at home at the time.

Lahore's Deputy Commissioner was apprised on the incident after which a first information report (FIR) was registered against him.

Sources say the actor's driver misbehaved with polio team.

Focal Person for PM on Polio Eradication Babar Atta said that, "As per DC Lahore, teams wanted to immunise Fawad's daughter since yesterday. First his driver misbehaved with teams followed by his family. Fawad is our pride, I request him to allow teams to vaccinate the child. Lahore has had a polio case last week, we must protect the child."

"I have been told that Fawad thinks getting their daughter immunised from UK will give the child protection against WPV1 strain. Protection against Wild Poliovirus can only be guaranteed with Oral Polio Vaccine," Atta said.

Earlier on February 18, a three-day anti-polio campaign targeting over 13.2 million kicked off in the country.

As per the Prime Minister Polio Cell, the aim of the ongoing campaign was to weaken the spread of polio virus — including from the 10 cities where the endemic virus was reported during last month
