RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control department has decided to extend the licence of official liquor sellers in the province.

Currently, 12 hotels across the province are authorised to sell liquor. This includes two hotels in Rawalpindi, four hotels in Lahore, and one hotel in Murree, Faisalabad and Multan respectively.

A number of hotels and establishments in Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur have applied for new licences.

The department generates large revenues every month from liquor sale while the final decision to issue licences will be taken by the Punjab government at the end of the current fiscal year.
