IDP repatriation: Govt opens registration centre in Tank

The Government has opened a registration centre at the Tank Political Compound, from where IDPs belonging to Mahsud-dominated areas will be registered up until Monday, so that they can be integrated in the next repatriation process, which is from June 28-30.


Assistant Political Agent Laddha Nawab Khan Safi told a peace jirga on Friday that the centre will register any IDPs from the areas that have been cleared by security forces, saying that another phase of the return process will run from July 4 to 6.

The displaced people from places like Ghorlama, Gangra, Habitkhel, Zaghparwam and other areas of Sararogha Tehsil in South Wazirstan will be returned.

On the support services being offered to returning IDPs, many of whom lost all that the owned during the violence and have been rendered homeless, Safi stated that free transport, six months worth of rations, tent, and Rs25,000 along with ATM cards would be provided to the IDPs upon their return.
