LAHORE: A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) firebrand MOA sought a discussion in the Punjab Assembly over governor Chaudhary Sarwar’s alleged attempt to influence government officials in recruitments and transfers.

MPA Samiullah Khan submitted an adjournment motion, expressing concern over the situation created by governor Punjab. He said the Toba Tek Singh deputy commissioner resigned after the governor pressurised him to involve his brother and a relative in the administrative matters of the district

He said this act of governor was a sheer violation of the Constitution.

“The governor has also been putting pressure on transfer and recruitment related matters in Toba Tek Singh.” He said the Toba Tek Singh DC also revealed some secrets which further highlighted the governor’s illegal role.

“The act of working beyond legal powers is creating an impression of the intervention of the chief minister’s powers which is a clear violation of Punjab Government Rules of Business.”

He said the governor’s intervention not only affected official work, but also created disappointment in the bureaucracy. The PML-N leader said the people of Punjab are concerned over the governor’s intervention.
