The demand was put forward by MPA Salma Sadia through a resolution she submitted at the Punjab Assembly Secretariat on Monday.
She proposed strict action against authorities concerned if allegations levelled against the arrested people are not proven. "No one is secure in Pakistan from NAB's black law," she said. "Who is responsible for the loss of someone's dignity and respect when arrests are made by NAB?" she asked. “There are several examples of arrests of innocent people made by NAB officials without any substantial evidence.”
She said that after lengthy investigations, the arrested people are finally released when NAB completely failed to establish a case. The MPA said it was a pity that people were arrested first and investigations were conducted thereafter.
She asked that ‘black laws’ be removed and amendments be introduced to punish those officials who arrest innocent people and ruin their standing in society only to ultimately release them.
