QUETTA: Provincial Minister for Local Government (LG) and Rural Development Muhammad Saleh Bhootani has said the incumbent government is serious in conducting free and fair LG elections in order to devolve powers to the union councils in the province.

“The people of Hub will see major development in the near future,” pledged the LG minister while addressing a cleanliness campaign in Hub City the other day.

The minister said, “Prime Minister Imran Khan and CM Jam Kamal launched the ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ initiative across the country [and the province, respectively] following the cleanliness campaign started in Hub City.”

Pledging his full support for the LG Department, Bhootani said, “We have directed the LG Department to make sure cleanliness is maintained in Hub.”

Expressing grave concern over the fire brigade vehicles lying in dilapidated condition at the LG Office, Hub, the minister lamented, “For such a populated city like Hub, there isn’t a single fire brigade.”

He said, “Work on development projects worth Rs200 million is under way in Hub. People will witness change in the near future.”

Bhootani vowed to upgrade the LG system in Balochistan and increase its annual funds.

On his visit to the Hub Press Club, Bhootani also pledged to address the problems of the journalists on immediate basis.

On the occasion, the minister also announced a government job for senior journalist Qadir Bukhsh Angariya.

“We believe in freedom of justice,” said the minister.

Referring to a section of the press, he said, “Criticism without facts is not justice and against the very norms of journalism.”
