RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government is striving to extend maximum facilities to promote local industry and provide all services under one roof to steer the ease of doing business in the province.
“I will be visiting all chambers of commerce of Punjab to get feedback and recommendations on tariffs, taxation and reforms,” said Punjab Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Sardar Tanveer Ilyas during his visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).

“The Punjab government will establish six to eight new industrial zones, which will help the local industry flourish.” Upholding the provincial government’s commitment to offering maximum facilities to overseas investors, he emphasised that local manufacturers, industrialists and investors would be provided equal opportunities and a level playing field.
The board chairman urged the private sector to come forward and play due role in boosting trade and business activities in the region.
Saying that the government was well aware of concerns of the business community, he stressed that there was a dire need to increase interaction at all levels.
He assured businessmen of his complete support for the establishment of a grid station and link road at the RCCI’s Rawat Industrial Estate.
Senate body for more industrial units in less developed areas
Speaking on the occasion, RCCI President Malik Shahid Saleem noted that Rawalpindi was the fourth largest city of Pakistan and voiced hope that the Punjab BOI chairman would give priority to addressing the business community’s grievances and enhance interaction with the traders.
“The government should extend similar incentives to local manufacturers in the Special Economic Zones in order to increase competition,” he urged. “We need more incentives to promote SMEs in the region and pin hopes on the upcoming export package.”
