Woman allegedly tortured by husband, in-laws

When the victim knew about her husband’s second marriage she protested and informed the elders of family about it

FAISALABAD: A woman was allegedly tortured by her husband and in-laws over a marriage dispute in Faisalabad.

Victim’s brother Zeeshan submitted a complaint at Mansoorabad police station, stating that his sister Maimoona Khatoon had married Qasim some ten years back.

He added two years ago, his brother-in-law had an affair with another woman identified as Aleena. He maintained that Qasime tied-the-knot with her secretly without the consent of his sister.

He stated that after his second marriage, his brother-in-law started misbehaving and beating Maimoona on a regular basis.

Zeeshan highlighted that when his sister knew about her husband’s second marriage she protested and informed the elders of the family regarding the matter.

He transpired this enraged accused Qasim, his second wife and in-laws and they allegedly subjected her to brutal torture. As a result, she suffered critical injuries and was shifted to a local hospital for treatment.

The police have registered a case against the accused nominated in the case after conducting the medical examination of the victim. Further investigations are under way.

Earlier, a woman was tortured and poisoned to death by her in-laws in Sialkot’s Sambrial Town.

Sania Bibi married Muhammad Asif a few years ago and the couple had six children. Soon after the marriage, the couple developed differences and they would often have arguments over minor issues.

On the day of the incident, Sania gave birth to a baby girl. However, after sometime, her husband and in-laws reportedly tortured her that led to her death.
