Adviser inaugurates first floating jetty in Gadani

Askani says work intensified on 5,000MW power project

QUETTA: Adviser to Chief Minister on Fisheries Akbar Askani has inaugurated the country’s first floating jetty built in Gadani at a cost of $400,000 for the local fishing community under a joint venture project of Pakistan and China.

“The provincial government has fulfilled the prime demand of fishermen of the coastal city of Gadani,” he said while inaugurating the jetty.

He said that such ventures would be beneficial for the development of the country.

Askani said, “The fruits of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) have commenced in Balochistan.”

He said that the provincial government has been making earnest efforts to make CPEC fruitful for the country’s development.

On energy projects in Balochistan, Askani said that development work has been intensified on the the 5,000MW Hub Power Company Limited (Hubco) project. He said that such project would address provincial issues to a great extent.

China Power Hub Generation Company (CPHGC) Chief Executive Zhao Yonggang said the project would generate electricity for four million homes. He highlighted the energy projects’ benefits for Pakistan’s economy.

“The Gadani floating jetty has been completed with the cost of $400,000 and is Pakistan’s first floating jetty,” Zhao said and added that progress was under way for the educational development of Alana Goth, while many playgrounds were being constructed for the youth of the area.

He pledged that the local population would be engaged in technical programmes and provided jobs in various development projects.
