Two youth martyred by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir

At least 18 Kashmiris were martyred by Indian troops during the month of January

Indian occupation forces, in yet another act of state terrorism, martyred two youth in Pulwama district of Indian-occupied Kashmir on Friday.

During a 'cordon and search operation' at Baba Mohalla of Drabgam village in the district, Indian troops killed the two Kashmiris identified as Shahid Ahmad Baba and Inayat Ahmad.

Indian troops also razed a house as part of their collective punishment method. Youth in the area then took to the streets to protest the move.

The Indian troops resorted to using force to suppress the protesters which led to intense clashes between the two sides. The occupation forces' personnel hurled teargas shells at the demonstrators in response.

The internet services have been suspended in Pulwama and neighbouring Shopian district of south Kashmir following the killings.

Meanwhile, a girl identified as Ishrat Jan was shot dead by an unknown gunman in Kulgam district.

According to the Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reports, 18 Kashmiris were martyred by Indian troops during the month of January.

Two women were also widowed during the month and two children were orphaned as a result of state brutality.

The data further reveals that as many as 126 people were injured - including mourners and peaceful protesters - by occupying troops.

Around 93 civilians were also arrested which included Hurriyat leaders and activists.

Indian forces also destroyed four residential structures during the period.

According to the data, a total of 755 people have been killed with over 25,265 injured since July 8, 2016.

The data released by KMS showed that from January 1989 till January 2019, a total of 95,283 Kashmiris have lost their lives, 145,597 civilians have been arrested, 22,898 women widowed, 107,756 children orphaned, 11,111 women either gang-raped or molested and a whopping 109,205 structures destroyed.
