Foreign investors keen to invest in fishing industry

Interest develops due to business-friendly policies of the government

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi revealed on Monday that foreign investors were expressing keen interest in investing in the fishing industry of Pakistan due to business-friendly policies of the government.

“Developing the fishing industry in line with international standards will not only help increase forex inflow into Pakistan, but will also generate employment opportunities,” the minister said in a meeting with a delegation of the World Bank.

The delegation, headed by Director for Environment and Natural Resources Julia Bucknall, expressed the desire to invest in the fishing industry.

The minister was of the opinion that Pakistan needed to benefit from its enormous natural resources and the time was ripe to invest in the infrastructure necessary to revamp Pakistan’s economy.
