Doctors barred from private practice in morning

QUETTA: The provincial health department has imposed a ban on private practice by government doctors in the morning, while also deciding to deduct salaries of those remaining absent from the general out-patient departments (OPDs).

According to a notification issued on Friday, the provincial health department has barred all its doctors from carrying out private practice from 8am till 2pm. It asked all deputy commissioners, medical superintendents and district health officers to take departmental action against doctors violating the department’s instruction.



“Poor patients have been visiting OPDs in government hospitals but due to doctors’ strike and absence they are compelled to return without treatment,” the notification says.

The department has decided to deduct the salaries of doctors not attending to patients in OPDs while running their private clinics.

“The provincial government is responsible to make sure that health facilities area available in government hospitals, therefore a new ban has been imposed on doctors,” stated the notification.
