QUETTA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has directed officials concerned to establish a new counter for traders at Taftan border after a request from the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) to set up a separate cell.

A QCCI delegation led by president Jumma Khan Badezai on Friday called on FIA Director Muhammad Ilyas Arain and discussed issues being faced by traders at Taftan border between Pakistan and Iran.

QCCI’s senior vice president Salahuddin Khilji and officials Haji Janan Achakzai, Syed Sarwar Agha, and Sarwar Ahmed were present on the occasion.

“The QCCI has always opposed illegal business activities in Balochistan and we are ready to cooperate with all departments to purge out illegal business and smuggling from our province,” said Badezai.

The delegation urged the FIA director to establish a new desk for trade activities and money changers, saying that “long queues at Taftan border for money exchange has been causing issues for pilgrims and traders”.

Arain assured full cooperation to the business community of the province.
