MITHI: A large number of employees and teachers of the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) staged a demonstration outside the press club on Wednesday to protest the reported closure of the federal project that would render 16,000 people jobless across the country. The protesters staged a sit-in at Kashmir intersection, shouting slogans to demand secure jobs. The sit-in caused a traffic jam that lasted nearly three hours. NCHD has 220 schools in Tharparkar district with 318 employees and teachers. In the entire province, the project has 5,000 employees and teachers. The employees demanded devolution of the project and absorbing the employees into the education department.
