Alamgir case: Court may take up plea for NAB reference review

Former minister says NAB officer has violated rules and made the case more personal centric

PESHAWAR: An accountability court has accepted to hear the plea of Pakistan Peoples Party leader Arbab Alamgir and his wife Asma Alamgir to review the NAB reference filed against them.

A single-judge bench of Justice Muhmmad Ishtiaq Justice Ishtiaq accepted for hearing the application of the lawyer of Alamgirs to review the references framed against them.

Justice Ishtiaq took serious note of doors to the court being locked and Arbab and Asma Alamgir made to wait outside the accountability court for long time.

Talking to the media outside the court, Arbab Alamgir said the NAB officials have implicated them in an accountability case due to a personal grudge.

The former minister said NAB officer has violated rules and made the case more personal centric.

The official, he said, was pressurising FBR to freeze their bank accounts, Alamgir said. The accountability court in Peshawar adjourned the case of Pakistan people’s party former minister Arbab Alamgir and his spouse in the illegal assets case till 12 of February.
