Former Miss Universe turned Bollywood actor Sushmita Sen has said she has been waiting for the right script to make her comeback into the industry, and might even don the cap of a film producer in the near future.

The style icon added that she felt more comfortable directly interacting with her audience as a professional model than facing the camera in films. “Since my days as a young girl, I have been doing fashion shows. I always feel at home at events where I can have live interactions with audience,” The Indian Express quoted her as saying.

Asked if she had plans to take up film projects any time soon, Sen - who has acted in top grossers like Sirf Tum (1999), Biwi No 1 (1999) and Main Hoon Na (2004) responded, “I have to wait for the right thing. I was very close to being a part of a film which finally did not happen. It was not because of me though. Let’s see, God has better plans…”

Sen also said that she might make films when the time is right but would not want to mix the two professions of acting and production. “What is going on right now in Bollywood is amazing. I can produce a film when the time is right even though I may not act in it,” the 43-year-old diva said.

Talking about fashion, Sen said she was fascinated with the experimentation being done by a new breed of designers, most of them students of fashion institutes. “But more than what a girl wears, her happy and confident look should be taken into account,” added the superstar.

Sen, herself, is known the world over for her confidence and million-dollar, dimpled smile. She is an icon for millions and a strong proponent for feminism and women’s rights as according to her, being born as a woman is a blessing.

“I think the fact that I am born as a woman itself is a huge award in my life,” she said recently. Sen has also opened up on the rising rape cases around the world, saying that there needs to be more discussion on the matter. “I have stopped giving my opinions on these issues because what happens is that we talk and protest a lot for a certain period but we don’t come up with a concrete outcome on these issues,” she stated. “This is not a something new. After that, we have the option of two things. First is that, we can forget about it just by feeling sad about it. Another is that we can set an example of who can inspire people.”

Sen further explained that there are some men who help and support women. These are the ones who need to be highlighted, instead of the people who commit crimes.
