LAHORE: Police arrested a woman, identified as Mahrukh, on Monday for her alleged involvement in the murder of her female domestic helper.

A couple of days ago, the body of an 18-year-old girl was fished out from a drain in Iqbal Town.

Police identified the victim as Uzma Bibi, a domestic help at Marukh’s house in Iqbal Town.

According to the police, Uzma Bibi's family alleged that the victim was murdered by Mahrukh. She had been working at her house for the last two months. At least two days ago, Mahrukh called and informed Uzma's family that their daughter had fled the home after committing a robbery.

After a few days, the body was spotted by a passerby in an Iqbal Town drain and the girl was identified as Uzma Bibi. Police have registered a case against Mahrukh and arrested her.

Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing arrested five suspects during raids in Lahore, Pattoki, and Okara on Monday.

The accused were involved in sexually harassing and extorting money from female students of private colleges and universities. A number of inappropriate videos of some of the girls were also seized from their possession.

FIA's Cyber Crime Wing had received an application from some students of private universities and colleges. The students said they had shared some of their photos, but now those photos have been edited and converted into doctored pictures. Later, the blackmailers demanded millions of rupees to return those images. The students added that one of the girls gave Rs200,000 to the suspects, but they demanded Rs500,000 and also threatened to release pictures on the social media.

A girl named Rabia from Okara said that she sent some of her pictures and videos for job recruitment, but the suspects converted those images into the doctored photo and demanded Rs400,000.

On receiving information, FIA arrested three suspects from Lahore, one from Pattoki and one from Okara. FIA recovered doctored photos and videos along with three laptops and mobile phones from the suspects. A case has also been registered under the Cyber Crime Act.
