Fire in Islamabad destroys charity goods worth millions

Fire breaks out in the basement of an NGO located in Islamabad. Goods worth Rs 50 million destroyed.

ISLAMABAD: Charity goods worth millions of rupees were destroyed after a fire broke out in the basement of a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Police officials said the fire broke out early morning in an industrial area located in I-9/2. The incident was reported around 6am and was brought under control hours later with the help of six fire brigade cars.

The destroyed goods had an estimated value of Rs 50 million and had been collected from different European countries, NGO staff told Express News.
