Sahiwal tragedy: Marriyum slams PM for ‘lack of grief’
PML-N spokesperson asks PM to own up to past claims and resign
LAHORE:
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Central Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb has called on Prime Minister Imran Khan to own up to his past claims and resign after accepting responsibility for the Sahiwal catastrophe instead of optics.
“When will the prime minister resign?” questioned Marriyum while reacting to the Sahiwal incident on Sunday.
She said the entire country has been in a state of shock over the heart wrenching tragedy while the premier woke up from his slumber after 24 hours to express grief over the disaster. “At least he managed to relate to the grief of the country for one instance”.
The former information minister also questioned why an FIR of the incident has still not been registered and names of the ‘missing prime minister’ and his ‘inconspicuous Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’ not been added to the anonymous FIR?
Sahiwal ‘encounter’: 16 CTD personnel arrested, booked under terrorism law
“Innocent civilians of Pakistan were murdered in cold blood in front of their children in Naya Pakistan,” she said lamenting the entire Punjab government has gone into hiding after the incident and if the CM had to wait for the PM’s approval to act on such an upheaval, the people of Punjab are doomed.
Marriyum further slammed government’s approach of focusing on financial support of the poor children instead of stressing the need for investigation.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan, please tell the nation, why were unarmed innocent civilian shot at, tweets won’t do in a time when people want retribution, tell the people when will you stage a sit-in against the brutality in Punjab,” she said.
Culprits behind Sahiwal police 'encounter' will be taken to task, vows Buzdar
The PML-N spokesperson further asked the prime minister to tell the people, when he will drag CM Buzdar out to the people, like he used to say about others.
“When are you planning to enforce one of your popular lock-downs over this incident?,” she lambasted reminding the PM of his previous conduct when in opposition over such incidents.
Marriyum said PM Imran is the most powerful person in the country right now and instead of expressing grief over social media, he should tell the people when he is bringing the culprits to law.
“Imran should tell the people who the real Chief Minister of Punjab is,” she concluded.
