Work on Rawalpindi Mother and Child Hospital incomplete

In July, former CJP Saqib Nisar had ordered the authorities to complete project without delays

RAWALPINDI: Work on Rawalpindi Mother and Child Hospital has still not started even after six months of clear orders by former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar during a visit to the site on July 1, 2018.

Sheikh Rasheed, along with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) candidates from PP-16 and PP-11, Raja Rashid and Chaudhry Adnan respectively, had also accompanied the chief justice .

During the site visit, the former chief justice ordered to produce the planning report of the project in 15 days further and ruled to make the hospital operational in 18 months.

On this occasion, the former chief justice Nisar directed the Additional Secretary Cabinet Division, and contractor of the scheme to complete this project and said that there was no further room for delays.

While pointing out the incomplete structure, the chief justice had said that the project was in a dilapidated state , the condition of the present construction had almost depleted. He refuted the recommendations to prepare a planning report.

He assured the assistance of Supreme Court in any obstacle and assured to provide space in rules and urged to work day and night for its construction.

At this point, he said that he would talk to the interim prime minister.

Nisar had also directed to appoint focal persons for this project. The deployment of staff and acquiring of equipment should be done swiftly, he added.

In an exchange of dialogue with the contractor, he said that the project could not be completed without his assistance.
