Faulty fuel pumps

Some fuel pumps in the federal capital have been found to be cheating their customers by putting in less fuel than what the gauge showed.

This was discovered after the Islamabad District Administration raided several filling stations in the federal capital following complaints filed on the Prime Minister’s Complaints Cell.

According to sources, hundreds of citizens had filed their complaints on the PM’s Complaints Portal after which the Islamabad deputy commissioner directed the Saddar assistant commissioner Saad Bin Asad to take immediate action.

The assistant commissioner inspected facilities at fuel pumps along Peshawar Road and discovered that some of them had faulty metres even though customers were charged standard rates.

Of those inspected, only three petrol pumps had accurate gauges. Moreover, some filling stations were overcharging customers.

Taking immediate action, nine people were arrested and cases were registered against the management of these fuel pumps at the Tarnol Police Station.

Meanwhile, Potohar Assistant Commissioner Mehreen Baloch took notice of complaints filed on the complaint portal and conducted a surprise raid on a tuck shop at the Daewoo bus terminal.

She discovered that products were being sold on inflated rates in excess of the government price list. The assistant commissioner fined the management of the tuck shop Rs10,000.

The assistant commissioner also inspected hygiene conditions at various hotels and noted that the situation at Mashallah Kabuli Pulao was extremely dismal. The authorities then sealed the hotel and arrested two employees.

Another hotel found to have poor hygiene conditions was fined Rs15,000.
