RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Imran Khan made a surprise visit to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) on Tuesday evening and expressed dissatisfaction over the healthcare facilities and state of hygiene and cleanliness besides provision of medicines to the patients.

Premier Imran has sought a report from Minister for National Health Services Aamer Mehmood Kiani within three days. PM was accompanied by Kiani, Special Assistant to PM Iftikhar Durrani and Senator Faisal Javed.

BBH Medical Superintendent Tariq Khan Niazi rushed in when he got the news of the raid on Rawalpindi’s biggest healthcare facility. Imran visited various departments of the hospital, including the maternity ward, and inquired after the wellbeing of patients.

An attendant complained about shortage of beds and two patients lying on same bed. The prime minister directed the authorities concerned to take measures to equip the hospital with modern tools and facilities for diagnostics and treatment, besides ensuring the provision of enhanced facilities at the intensive care department.
